Thanks, i been meaning to put the project together my self, but i have been sidetracked by some things put but a concerted effort into a good project build. Philadelphia Request
- Hi, I would appreciate you looking at this page and making some comments in favor of the merger. Category talk:Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thanks! evrik 16:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- I saw your last revert. If you go back far enough in the record, I believe, you'll see that Boothy reverted my edits and started this edit war. I want to repeat that I don't care about the article pages, but think the category is not useful and duplicative. Wikipedia lists Philadelphia as a consolidated city-county, Any article that doesn't belong directly in the Philadelphia Category and is related to the County, probably belongs elsewhere (like history). evrik 05:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- As should probably be clear by now, I've found your arguments unconvincing so far, and your behavior extremely trying. Please attempt to calm down. For further reading, may I suggest perusing m:The Wrong Version. --CComMack 08:20, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that you have found my actions trying. I will talk to Boothy, if he will talk to me. However, I want to highlight something, rather than suggest the county and municipalities category be deleted, I went and made it a subcategory to Philadelphia History, to which Boothy responded that I was "gaming the system." I have made a peace overture. evrik 18:34, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Reversions
Hi there. I saw your edit here, and it seems that you have sort of, well...stepped right into the middle of an edit war. Have you edited these articles before, and are you familiar with the subject matter? I have been periodically protecting those pages for the past little while; if you have any ideas for ending the edit war, please feel free to let me know. --HappyCamper 06:09, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm glad to hear you like my maps. I'd be happy to update it to reflect the new colour scheme - I'll try to get around to it within the next week. Regards, Darkcore 19:55, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

- One of the reasons I lurked on wikipedia for a long time was the revisions of users like Boothy443. I understand why you left me that message, but I find it hard to be unrepentant.South Philly 03:42, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- That particular account has been permanently blocked by me now. One should not go about deliberately editing articles and user talk pages to promote divisiveness. --HappyCamper 06:08, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- I noticed that you said you had bitten a new user. No hard feelings - I now either to get reinstated or go create a new username. South Philly 19:33, 20 February 2006 (EST)
- South Philly is unblocked now - I've left an explanation for this on his/her talk page. You can read it if you like. In the meantime, I am not sure what to do about Boothy's arbitration case. I don't think it was presented to the committee for consideration of the current edit war. Right now, I am treating that as a separate issue from the 3 articles where the reversions are taking place. It might be more relevant to create another arbitration case specific to the Philadelphia articles, but I consider this an inappropriate alternative to resolve the dispute at the moment. The reason is that none of the active participants in the edit war have made themselves open to discussion - this is fine, but if reversions are to take place on those pages, I expect that at minimum some sort of explanation be given. It is clear that the edit summaries are not adequate to resolve the outstanding issues that are present. If it degenerates further, I will reluctantly protect those pages again. I hope this would not be necessary! --HappyCamper 04:15, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

"Silver Line"
I reverted your reversion on the "Silver Line." The only Silver Line currently on the drawing board for the CTA is the outer loop. We can't call this new service SIlver Line and make it part of the CTA group of "color" services until the new service is designated a color, which may or may not be silver. Until then, any discussion of the service belongs under Blue Line. -- Cecropia 04:21, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
P.S. The new color is to be announced in just two weeks, so we can be a little patient until then, I think. -- Cecropia 04:28, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, my bad. Sorry. -- Cecropia 10:28, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Subcategory sort keys
Why change the sort key on Category:United States rail biography stubs? That makes it inconsistent with every other subcategory of one of its parents. As I understand it, the general scheme is to use "*" as the sortkey for categories, and " " only for main articles. Though this is admittedly somewhat up-in-the-air; see Wikipedia_talk:Categorization#Top-Sorting for what little centralised discussion seems to exist. Alai 16:17, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- (copied from User talk:Alai) Sorry, I was interpreting the sudden wave of subcats sorted with a leading space as a sign that consensus had been reached somewhere on the subject. I'm sad to see I was wrong... FWIW, I don't care which of star or space is settled on, just so long as it's consistent, which is what I was doing (going through the subcats of Category:Rail stubs and changing them all to leading space, as none of them had leading stars and most had no sortkey at all.) Again, apologies for the mistake. --CComMack 21:50, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- I have no preference for either, just for consistency, as you say. I'll leave the rail-stub sortkeys alone, but given that the US-bios are running at 27:1, I'll change that one back. Alai 22:06, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
user edemerell
Hi, I saw your post on the welcoming committee page. It seems like the best way to approach this user would be to thank him for his contributions and ask him for some help sorting out the page that he has made some fine contributions to. Since the copyvio is not his, this is a good way to show him how the wikipedia process works and sort of work with him to wikify the article further and maybe make some changes using the discussion page. You can change the copyvio text to something that is a more reasonable non-copyvio paraphrase and use this article as a way to welcome edemerell to the community. So, I guess what I'd do would be
- fix the copyvio, possibly by removing the text to the discussion page
- welcome edemerell with your standard greeting as well as something like "good thing you showed up, I have a question about part of that article" and show him how the discussion pages work.
- fix the article together
The copyvio should be removed but that doesn't mean the rest of the article has to go if it's not copyvio. Hope this is helpful, feel free to ask if you have more questions. Jessamyn (talk) 16:46, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Stubs
I figured that it fell under "or 30 or more if associated with a WikiProject" as they come under Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports for the Territorial airports. I would suggest Category:Atlantic Canada airport stubs for Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. With the other province's in their own category. The 3 territories could each go in their own (they each have more than 30)or into one larger category together. But I can't think of what to call it as Category:Canadian Territorial airport stubs doesn't sound quite right.
Take a look at St. Andrews (Codroy Valley) Airport I've been doing the "Saint" in that fashion so that they are listed in the correct alphabetical order.
Also, I noticed that you were registered for AWB and wondered why you weren't using it for this? I'm going to start Quebec right now. Cheers.CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:35, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that I thought I had hit save but I guess I hit preview instead. I've been thinking a bit more and they could go either way. Into the Canada Airport Stubs or into the Atlantic category. Truth is somedays I wish I'd never started all these stubs in the first place. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:35, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've finished all that I could get with the AWB. I put the Yukon into a category temporary so I can see what's left. Can you leave it for now so that I can see which ones I have left to do. I'm almost at the end of my shift and have to go home so I can't finish until I get back in 12 hours. I think your idea sounds good and once the temporary categories are empty I'll delete them. Can you still see Davin Lake Airport listed in Category:Canadian airport stubs? It's got the correct stub but I can't get it out even though I purged the cache. Strange. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:43, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. Like I said I'll finish off tonight. Thanks for the tip on the alphebetical stub sorting. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:57, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
All finished. I had to redo the Davin Lake as even several hours later it was still there. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 10:30, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Bot Edit
You wrote: What was wrong with the bot-added interwiki link to zh.wikipedia that you removed from Metro-North Railroad? It seemed to point to the right place, as far as I could tell. --CComMack 08:45, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- It was hidden (not visible), & I thought it might be spurious. Font or language was such that it only showed, in edit, as zh, followed by blank boxes for characters. Do I infer correctly that "bot edits" are benign & to be ignored? Sorry if I stepped on someones toes. Keotaman 09:30, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem. For the record, running a bot is a very tightly-controlled thing, and the administrators will clamp down hard on an unauthorized, malicious bot (and its owner). You can pretty much assume a bot is ignorable unless something really obviously bad happens. The link in question was an interwiki link to the Chinese Wikipedia article on Metro-North, which you can (probably not) read by clicking here; the blank boxes are erroneously displayed Unicode characters. In general, it's good to have a Unicode-friendly OS/browser pair; I use Mozilla Firefox on a Mac; Firefox ought to play well with Unicode on most Windows machines. --CComMack 09:45, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir, I learned something here. Maybe you could restore the link, in a form that would be visible? Keotaman 09:55, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Interwiki links display in the left hand margin/column area, if you're using the default skin (monobook). I'll restore the link momentarily so you can look for it. Always glad to be of service to newer users. :-) --CComMack 10:00, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Syracuse William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center
Concerning Syracuse William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (and all stations where the lines run parallel), the problem is that the routing would also have to be changed from west-to-east... The original problem arose because the routing by Amtrak is west-to-east for the Lake Shore Limited, but east-to-west for the others. -newkai | talk | contribs 19:20, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- OK, well that's fine then... But then the routing also has to be reversed on the LSL to read NY/BOS to Chicago. I guess I'll change it then. -newkai | talk | contribs 19:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the other two have to be changed to west-east. -newkai | talk | contribs 19:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Cool, OK... I fixed what I meant... It actually involved the line templates themselves. What I meant was that if ES and ML are changed to west -> east, the info in the box also need to be changed, eg. Niagara Falls -> NY instead of NY -> Niagara Falls. Sorry for the confusion! It's all good now. -newkai | talk | contribs 19:37, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
